Giving up soft Drinks (pt2)

Giving up soft drinks. This is a follow on post from my Giving up Diet Coke post. If you haven’t had a chance to read it you can Catch it here!

As you may know, I have decided to give up soft drinks. I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke. (I could polish off a box of 30 cans in a few days). The reason that I have decided to give up soft drinks is, that I want to look after my health more and I don’t want t my teeth disovling!

I also took the time to do some research into the effects of what giving up  Aspartame does to your body. This is one of the Additives in soft drinks. I came across a rather interesting post about the possible ‘terrible’ effects it can have on your body. I did attac a link in my Giving up soft Drinks post but, if you did miss I will relink the website address here.

How many terrible effects did I experience?

None.

That’s right, None. There was no anxiety, no heart palpitations no panic attacks. I was expecting to write a day by day account of serious withdrawals, and how I had to overcome them. Going into great detail because of the toxic nature of soft drinks. I feel rather let down. I have clearly been lied to, But, to be fair I was giving up soft drinks and not Class A drugs!

If I’m honest I was giving up soft drinks not Class A drugs so I not that surprised. I did think that the list that was posted was there to ‘spice up the post!

It certainly goes to show that you shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet!

I would be lying though if I said I didn’t experience anything though because I did. It’s just I didn’t experience anything like I was told I might in that post. To put it another way, I didn’t experience any withdrawals that wouldn’t be out of place in the film Train Spotting!

So what did I experience after giving up soft drinks?

So the results are…DrumRoll Please….

  • Day 1. A little restlessness
  • Day 2. Err, Nothing really
  • Day 3. This was the worst day. I had a headache. Oh and I felt tired.
  • Day 4. (That’s today) Nothing, nothing at all I didn’t even crave a soft drink. Actually, I feel great.

I’m sorry if you feel that this is an anti-climax. If you do, you can always pretend that you haven’t read this and that I experienced hot and cold sweats. That I was also curled up in a ball on the floor because I was In gut-wrenching pain having heart palpitations…

I’ve just gone into a supermarket to get a drink and I pick up a bottle of water. It was only afterwards when I was sitting on a bus going home. I realised that I hadn’t even though about buying a soft drink either. So it just goes to show that if you want to give up the diet drinks you can!

If you drink Tea or coffee, then you won’t really be feeling any side effects if you do it will be for a couple of days and that’s it!
